How to Manage Pests
Pests in Gardens and Landscapes—Landscape and Garden
Pesticides
Pesticides should be used only as a last resort to manage home, garden
and landscape pest problems. If you must use a pesticide, choose the
least toxic yet most effective product that targets the pest but does
not also kill natural enemies or other animals.
For the best information on what pesticides or other pest management
methods are most appropriate for a specific pest, type the pest name
in the “Search home and garden” box and read the appropriate
Pest Notes or other informational screens.
Below is a partial list of some pesticides available for home garden
use. Each links to a screen providing descriptions on the pesticide
type, plant uses, pests controlled, hazards to people, wildlife and beneficials,
as well as other precautions and tips. More pesticides will be added
over time.
